Personalisation

Very! Your child's name appears throughout the story, and you choose their skin tone, hair style (27 options), heritage, and the key characters in the story. We then paint unique illustrations featuring your child.

We currently support Yoruba (Nigerian), Igbo (Nigerian), Ghanaian (Akan), Jamaican (Caribbean), and Black British. Each heritage changes the cultural details — greetings, naming ceremonies, proverbs, and food references.

Yes, optionally. A reference photo helps us create a more accurate illustration. Your photo is stored securely and automatically deleted 30 days after your order is completed.

Our stories are written for ages 2-8, with four age-adapted versions: baby (0-2), toddler (2-3), little kid (4-5), and big kid (6-8). The reading level, vocabulary, and sentence complexity adjust automatically.

Quality & Printing

Premium. We use 150gsm silk-coated pages with vibrant colour printing. Hardcover books have a durable laminated cover. Our print partner is UK-based and specialises in high-quality children's books.

Every illustration is painted in a rich, gallery-quality style inspired by artists like Kadir Nelson and Vashti Harrison. Each one is unique to your child — no templates, no colour swaps. The story text is hand-crafted for perfect typography.

Our books are 8.5" x 8.5" (216mm x 216mm) — a generous square format that gives the illustrations room to breathe and is comfortable for little hands.

Privacy & Data

Yes. We only collect the minimum information needed to create your book. Photos are automatically deleted after 30 days. We never use your data for marketing or sell it to third parties. See our full Privacy Policy for details.

About Omo Tales

'Omo' means 'child' in Yoruba — one of the most widely spoken languages in West Africa. For us, OMO also stands for Of My Own — because every child deserves a story that's truly theirs. A story of their own.
